Privacy Policy

We designed Sonewe to enable you to share your information with others and to develop and maintain a powerful network, may it be social or professional. As you willingly provide us with certain information, we are committed to your privacy.

This policy covers how Sonewe treats personal information that we collect and receive, including information related to your past use of our products and services. Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable such as your name, address, e-mail address, or phone number, and that is not otherwise publicly available.

The Information We Collect

Registration

In order to become a User, you must first create an account on our website. To create an account you are required to provide certain contact information, which you recognize and expressly acknowledge is personal information allowing others, including Sonewe, to identify you. The required information you need to supply may include the following: full name, user type, e-mail address, username, user type, and a password chosen by you.

Profile Information

Once you become a User, you may provide additional information in the profile section describing your interests, hobbies, skills, education, professional experiences, and networking objectives. Providing additional information beyond what is required at registration to become a User is entirely optional, but enables you to better portray yourself and find new opportunities in the Sonewe system to build and enhance your network. Any information you provide at registration or in the Profile section that is not personally identifiable may be used in the same manner and extent to which other information that is not personally identifiable is permitted to be used hereunder, including for the purpose of serving advertisements through the service.

Contacts Information

In order to invite others to connect with you directly in Sonewe, you may use the Sonewe services to invite them if they are a User, or enter their names and e-mail addresses if they are not yet part of the Sonewe community. This information will be used by Sonewe to send your invitation. The names and e-mail addresses of people that you invite will be used only to send your invitation and reminders.

Log Files, IP Addresses, and Information About Your Computer

Due to the communications standards on the Internet, when you visit the Sonewe website we automatically receive the URL of the site from which you came and the site to which you are going when you leave Sonewe. We also receive the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer (or the proxy server you use to access the World Wide Web), your computer operating system and type of web browser you are using, e-mail patterns, as well as the name of your ISP. This information is used to analyze overall trends to help us improve the Sonewe service. The linkage between your IP address and your personally identifiable information is not shared with third-parties without your permission or except when required by law.

Cookies

Sonewe, like many websites, uses cookies to prepare customized Web pages for you. A cookie is a file containing a string of code that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive, to be kept there for later use. With cookies in place, whenever you use your Web browser (such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari) to connect to Sonewe, our systems are able to recognize you. This enables Sonewe to present you with custom Web pages. For example, instead of seeing a generic welcome page, you might see a welcome page with your name on it and information about products or services that reflect your interests.

You can set up your browser to reject cookies or tell you when a cookie has been sent. However, cookies allow you to take full advantage of Sonewe interactive features.

In addition to our cookies, Sonewe may allow third parties that show advertisements on our site and set and access their own cookies on your computer. The cookies inserted by those third parties are not covered by Sonewe Privacy Policy, but rather, by the policies of those third parties. However, these third parties do not have access to Sonewe cookies.

Sonewe also uses Web beacons (also known as action tags or single pixel gifs) to allow us to count how many people have visited a certain page. This enables us to assess the popularity and effectiveness of the content provided on the Sonewe website. Additionally, we sometimes use Web beacons to access Sonewe cookies inside and outside our Web pages and in connection with Sonewe products and services. A Web beacon is a transparent image placed on a Web page that sends a signal when a person visits that page. We may also use Web beacons in connection with e-mails sent to Sonewe users to let us know whether and when the e-mail was opened.

We do link the information we store in cookies to any personally identifiable information you submit while on our site.

Third-Party Advertising

Advertisements that appear on Sonewe are sometimes delivered (or "served") directly to users by third party advertisers. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens. These third party advertisers may also download cookies to your computer, or use other technologies such as JavaScript and "web beacons" to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize advertising content. Doing this allows the advertising network to recognize your computer each time they send you an advertisement in order to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize advertising content. In this way, they may compile information about where individuals using your computer or browser saw their advertisements and determine which advertisements are clicked. Sonewe does not have access to or control of the cookies that may be placed by the third party advertisers. Third party advertisers have no access to your contact information stored on Sonewe unless you choose to share it with them.

This privacy policy covers the use of cookies by Sonewe and does not cover the use of cookies or other tracking technologies by any of its advertisers.

Opting Out of Third-Party Ad Servers

If you want to prevent a third-party ad server from sending and reading cookies on your computer, you must visit each ad network's website individually and opt out. To inquire about the relationships we currently maintain with third-party ad networks please contact us via e-mail at [email protected].

Editing and/or Deleting Account Information & Preferences

You can edit the information contained in your account at any time by clicking on Settings after logging on to Sonewe. You can delete your Sonewe account by visiting the Deactivate Account page within your account. Although your account will be deactivated immediately, information provided to us while you were a registered user may remain in back-up storage on our servers indefinitely. Nevertheless, once you delete your account, this information will be inaccessible to the public.

Children Under Age 13

Sonewe is not intended for, nor do we knowingly collect information from, children under the age of 13. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us via e-mail at [email protected].

Children Between the Ages of 13 and 18

We recommend that minors 13 years of age or older ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves to anyone over the Internet.

Confidentiality and Security

Sonewe limits access to personal information about you to employees who we believe reasonably need such information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs. In addition, Sonewe maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect personal information about you.

Sonewe takes your privacy seriously and will take every reasonable and customary measure to protect your personal information; however, we cannot guarantee that there will be no unauthorized use of your personal information.

If you register for the site and services and create a User Account, you will be provided a username and password for such User Account. You acknowledge that you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the password as well as any and all activity that occur under your User Account and password. You agree that at the end of each session using the Site and Services, you will exit your User Account. In the event of any unauthorized use of your password and/or User Account, you agree that you will immediately notify Sonewe by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. Sonewe cannot and will not be liable for any and all losses or damages arising from your failure to comply with this Section.

How We Use Your Information

When you register with Sonewe, you create your own profile and privacy settings. Your profile information, as well as your name, e-mail and photo, are displayed to people in the networks specified in your privacy settings to enable you to connect with people on Sonewe. We may occasionally use your name and e-mail address to send you notifications regarding new services offered by Sonewe that we think you may find valuable. We may also use this information to notify you when you have been contacted by a Sonewe user.

Profile information is used by Sonewe primarily to be presented back to and edited by you when you access the service and to be presented to others permitted to view that information by your privacy settings. In some cases where your privacy settings permit it, other Sonewe users may be able to make additions to your profile.

Profile information you submit to Sonewe will be available to users of Sonewe who belong to at least one of the networks you allow to access the information through your privacy settings (e.g., school, geography, work field). Your name and profile picture thumbnail will be available in search results across the Sonewe network and those limited pieces of information may be made available to third party search engines. This is primarily so your people can find you and your contacts can find you and request to be added to your network. People who see your name in searches, however, will not be able to access your profile information unless they are in your network or your privacy settings allow them to do so, e.g. by making your profile public.

Sonewe may send you service-related announcements to the e-mail address you provided when creating your account. For instance, if a contact sends you a new message, or someone posts your profile page, you may receive an e-mail alerting you to that fact.

Generally, you may opt out of such e-mails, by stating so on the Settings page, although Sonewe reserves the right to send you notices about essential information regarding the account or changes to your account, even if you opt out of all voluntary e-mail notifications.

Sonewe may use information in your profile without identifying you as an individual to third parties. We do this for purposes such as aggregating how many people in a network like a band or movie and personalizing advertisements and promotions so that we can provide you Sonewe. We believe this benefits you. You can know more about the world around you and, where there are advertisements, they're more likely to be interesting to you. For example, if you put a favorite movie in your profile, we might serve you an advertisement highlighting a screening of a similar one in your town. But we don't tell the movie company who you are.

Sharing Your Information with Third Parties

Sonewe is about sharing information with others while providing you with privacy settings that restrict other users from accessing your information. We allow you to choose the information you provide to contacts and networks through Sonewe. In connection with these offerings and business operations, our service providers may have access to your personal information for use for a limited time in connection with these business activities. Where we utilize third parties for the processing of any personal information, we implement reasonable contractual and technical protections limiting the use of that information to the Sonewe-specified purposes.

Any third party to which we transfer or sell Sonewe’s assets will have the right to continue to use the personal and other information that you provide to us.
